About Us:

The Royal White Eagle guild is a historical re-enactment group that performs at events in Northern California and Nevada. The group presents the travels and travails of Polish magnats and their household during the mid-1500s. We re-create the lifestyle noblemen and their households; a cross-section of the middle and upper szlachta of both men and women: their ideas and passions of the times.

The guild was formed by Marta Miernik. Miss Miernik was born in Myslowice, Poland, came to USA at the age thirteen and settled with her family in California. Having found acclimatization to the new culture a bit difficult, she searched out and eventually found an outlet that satisfied her passions for history, horses and love of the old country. That outlet is the Renaissance Faire.

Miss Miernik’s acting career on the faire circuit begun in 1991 under pseudonym Panna Marta (or Martinique) Jagiellonka, the FIRST REGULARLY RECOGNIZED POLISH CHARACTER on the Western Renaissance Faire circuit. In addition she enjoyed a long career portraying Queen Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots as a member of Royal St. Andrews Guild. Ever fervent about Polish history, she formed Royal Emissaries house, in the Royal St. Andrews Guild, a group for Ambassadors who, like her, loved to educate the faire community on history of the Renaissance from the beyond English and Scottish points of view.

To further the Polish presence on the faire circuit, Miss Miernik formed the Royal White Eagle guild. Royal White Eagle is comprised of talented and dedicated individuals who like she, share the love of history and are intrigued by the Polish culture of the mid 16c. The group entertains and educates the public through the presentation of encampment, and members’ performances: singing (Polish, Latin and English), dancing, poetry, theatrical vignettes, historical orations, household interactions, military maneuvers, and most importantly, through direct interaction with the audience, teaching them one-on-one the importance of the Polish Commonwealth and its play in the international arena.

Today, Royal White Eagle is recognized for its entertaining repertoire of shows and enjoys a flourishing career on the faire circuit.
